I am the Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist for Edinburgh and the Lothians and I have been in post since 1999.
My role is to act as an expert resource to other healthcare professionals thereby improving the service they provide to people with Parkinson's and their families.
The unique role of the nurse is to.
Provide patient education, support and the identify care needs.
Co-ordinate services for Parkinson’s patients and their families, as part of the care team.
Co-ordinate care for people with Parkinson’s when in hospital.
Act as the 'middle man' between Therapist’s, G.P.’s and Consultant.
I hold Nurse Led clinics at the Western General, St Johns and Roodland’s. I also hold clinics in partnership with Consultants at the Royal Victoria and Astley Ainslie hospitals. I also see patients who are completely housebound in their homes.
I can be contacted by telephone via an answer machine: this is for non urgent enquiries as all urgent issues should be dealt with via your GP. I work out of the office a lot and therefore cannot deal with emergency calls.
So, if you need advice about the disease process, medication or any other Parkinson’s related issues you can contact me at:
