Mindfulness for Parkinson’s Scotland

Cath Ashby is delivering The Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC), which is an 8-week mindfulness course which has been developed by the Mindfulness Association. It is recognised by the British Association of Mindfulness-based approaches (BAMBA), where Cath is a registered teacher, and has been teaching mindfulness since 2020.

Cath is offering to deliver a free online mindfulness course for people living with Parkinson’s and their partners, friends and carers. Please feel free to download and share the Mindfulness for Parkinson’s Flyer.

This Mindfulness-Based Living Course introduces different tools you can use in your life which can help you stay more present and build qualities such as self-compassion.
The NHS includes mindfulness is one of their five ways to wellbeing so come and try for yourself!
Sessions have a gentle pace and take place on Tuesday evenings between 6 – 8pm.

There is an introductory evening on 11th March 2025. The main course takes place every Tuesday from 1st April 2025 until 20th May 2025, with a final meet up on 10th June.

What to Expect

  • This experiential course takes place on Zoom.
  • Each session introduces a couple of mindfulness practices and gives a chance to try them out, then time to share in small groups in break out rooms if you wish to.
  • There will be a break in the middle of the session for about 10-15 mins.
  • The course is suitable for people with health conditions as everything is adapted to suit the group.
  • You will be given choices and can sit, lie, stand, or move depending on your needs. Some people like having a throw or blanket to stay cosy.
  • If you miss a week you can catch up with the audio recordings and manual notes.
  • You will get the most out of this course if you can spend a little time trying the practices between sessions (but no pressure!). This helps build a new habit where mindfulness becomes part of our lives, and we really begin to feel the benefits.
